ICTs promote growth and development within the constituencies: Dr. Jenfan Muswere
Dr. Jenfan Muswere

Dr. Jenfan Muswere, the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services has said improved access to ICTs, will not only promote growth and development within the constituencies but will also have spillover benefits on the overall growth and development of Zimbabwe.

Dr. Muswere made the statement on the occasion of the Chatumbama Base Station Commissioning on 16th September 2020 in Mt. Darwin.

“It is no secret that improved access to ICTs, will not only promote growth and development within the constituencies but will also have spillover benefits on the overall growth and development of Zimbabwe.

“I acknowledge the sterling efforts of NetOne, as it continues to expand its network footprint and increase service provision in previously marginalized areas such as Chatumbama. This will no doubt promote employment creation by enhancing distribution and access channels,” Dr. Muswere said.

The Chatumbama base station has already been provisioned for infrastructure sharing and Telecel has already activated its equipment to provide network coverage, with Econet installation expected before the end of September 2020.

“On behalf of the Government, we call upon the Chatumbama and entire Mt. Darwin community to embrace the enhanced network provision to facilitate and promote trade within the constituency as a whole. This infrastructure should therefore be guarded jealously. The improved network coverage within the District is a conduit for ease of doing business through NetOne’s products and services.”

The Ministry of ICT, Postal, and Courier Services has promised to continue on the trajectory to ensure equitable access to ICTs by all citizens, including
disadvantaged groups and rural communities in Zimbabwe.

Dr. Muswere praised the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs for Mashonaland Central Province, Hon. Monica Mavhunga, not only for
being a courteous host but for actively spearheading the development
within the province.

Speaking at the same occasion, Ms. Chipo Jaisson, the NetOne Acting Chief Executive Officer said the Chatumbama base station will empower the communities of Mt Darwin, through access to communication solutions, as well as products and services offered by NetOne.

“You are now part of the global village and can communicate seamlessly, with friends and relatives, not only in Zimbabwe but beyond our borders as well. The base station is not only a source of communication but an additional source of employment creation and income for everyone throughout the district. As NetOne we have many opportunities in the form of franchise shops for local entrepreneurs.

“As a NetOne subscriber, you will have a world of opportunities at your fingertips. By registering on our mobile financial service platform, One Money, you can buy and sell airtime at a discount. You can also receive and make payments with ease as One Money, is integrated into the Zimswitch platform and over 16 banks via ZIPIT. In addition, the One Money debit card allows you to swipe at any point-of-sale machine throughout the country,” Ms. Jaisson said.

Through the provision of 3G Network, the Chatumbama Base Station, will enable the entire community to access quality data, voice and SMS services.

NetOne has very exciting products like the popular voice bundle Khuluma 24/7 and Dollar a Day that gives customers real value for money. The NetOne WhatsApp bundle is also the only one that offers both voice and video calls.

“Our promise to serve you does not stop on products offered only, as NetOne is also on hand to assist with queries of any nature through our Quality Contact Centre. Assistance can be accessed by simply dialling 121 and 123 and our dedicated staff who are on hand 24 hours, 7 days a week, all year round, will respond within minutes.

‘It is our vision to continually expand our services, creating and unlocking value that communities can leverage on, to complement government’s efforts in attainment of Vision 2030, a middle-income economy. We promise you that through the use of our network, the lives of the entire community will be transformed for better,” Ms. Jaisson added.
